    SWM Vent Valve

I'm plaaning of building my own WTC and I need some idea on how to build the vent valve.
I already have a D&E system but I would to see some more examples. I then remembered that the SWM units were also Propel based. Anybody here with a SWM who can send me a photo of the valve assembly?

    Thanks

I have a SWM WTC and it uses a tapered cam to operate the vent valve as well as a Schrader valve on the gas tank to blow ballast. I also have a Big Dave Welch WTC kit that I built for the Trumpeter KILO; it uses a Schrader valve as the vent valve.

      Thanks Bob.

      Just a couple of questions,
Is there a spring keeping the SWM vent valve closed?
Can you post a photo of the servo used to vent/blow the ballast tank?

The vent spring is a small piece of tubing wedged in between the valve arm and bracket. The ballast servo is a standard Futaba 3003 or 3004 mounted to the bulkhead. The servo also supports some other items: antenna wrap; Lipo LVC; failsafe; etc.
Red tape secure anttena wrapped on plastic. Zip tie secures fail safe.

Sombra Labs RX is attached to bottom of servo - away from output shaft.

Servo is held in place with two bolts. Servo has round servo arm (wheel?), which is mated to the cam shaft that operates the vent and gas valves.

        Spring tube turned up.

        Spring tube removed.

        Spring tube out.

          Bob,
Forgot to specify that what I wanted was the vent/blow servo for Big Dave's WTC. Want to see how the rotary shaft connects with the servo. None the less thanks for the SWM unit.

            Re: SWM Vent Valve

On Big Dave's WTC, I made the ballast servo operating shaft from brass stock. The operating shaft is shapped like a two tined pickle fork. 1/8" brass rod for the main shaft; 1/16" brass rod for the forks; and a piece of brass flat stock as the bridge. The two 1/16" brass forks line up with holes in the servo arm.

Wow, quite an interesting set up. You could easily incorporate a micro switch in there to operate a low pressure blower in lieu of using Propel. Thanks Bob.
