    Electronics

To start: Please forgive my abundant posts. But I am of the school that there are no stuppid questions. And I have no one I can ask face to face questions in my life that knows a thing about electronics.

I'm gearing up for WTC build. Now I've got tons of amazing advice on this site. But I'm still scratching my head when it comes to the motor. I know what an ESC is. I like the ones at Mtroniks. Not sure if brushless is a good way to go yet. This is my first build. I don't want to buy a motor that is underpower. But I don't want my Akula to fly across the pond either. I have no idea how to gear up or down a motor. I understand the theory behind it. And I know how cog wheels work. Do I have to buy a motor for a boat? Can a helicopter motor do the trick?

As for as an APC is there a preferable place to buy. I like the Roguesubworks one. But his site seems to be down. I've got 5 working futaba servos so i"m good there. And how strong does a air pump need to be. Because I found one at my local PrincessAuto. Right above some impressive looking motors.

I understand almost everything else from pushrodds to pins. It's all comming together. I like the pushrod bellow seals. Going to go with that. But the shaft seal. I've found two from a seller in Hong Kong. But non near by. Any ideas.

I'm also going to try to post some pics of my build this weekend.
    Thanks in advance.

I have an eFlite 245KV brushless motor controlled by a Castle Hydra 120amp ESC. The motor is direct drive and provides scale low-speed runs.

Here are some links for shaft seals:

If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Here's a nice little brushless combo for that boat. Run on 7-8 volts for a nice turn of speed, 12 volts, if you want a rocket.

The pair together cost about $20- won't break the bank will it.

AWESOME GUYS! Next paycheck. Or paycheck after that I will beginn purchasing. Just one remaining question. I'm definatly getting a Automatic Level. Do I need one for front and one for rear planes? Going to get it at Rogue along with some other purchases. And that motor and esc fit my needs perfectly. Going to fo find a mount for it now!!! awesome. Really awesome.

You only fit a leveller tot he rear planes. You can fit a depth controller to the front planes. Highly optional, and most submarienrs are happy with a leveller on its own.

Am I going to have to gear down or up that motor for the Akula? And anyone know when roguesubworks site is going back up. Want to make a purchase or two.
