    Early U-Boat deck gun

    Jeff,
Do you know of body that makes an after market deck gun to replace the ugly one that Robbe provides for their Type VII.I haven`t decided to use one yet but if I do I don`t want to use the one that came with the boat.By the way that deck that you supplied me with really turned out nice.

Yup, Accurate Armour's 1/35th scale gun is very nicely detailed and will be close enough!

p.s. good to hear that the deck turned out well. Feedback is always appreciated.

Yes everything turned out well including the modifications that you and I discussed. The only problem that I have is that between the deck and the Accurate Armor C/T I have added so much weight topside that I will need to wire tie a red brick to the keel and squeeze a 4x8 sheet of foam into the hull to trim the boat.

I spent a week of evenings grinding the excess resin out of the conning tower casting. Put one of those cheap tool store grinding dremel type grinding drum in the drilling machine and carefully removed the excess. Wearing a dust mask of course. You can get it quite thin and light. You could always make a real mess of an expensive casting too....

I got the tower from Jim and it was already cleaned up pretty good,so all that I had to do was replace or repair a few parts. The previous owner did a good job with it,but it is still very heavy compared to the standard c/t that comes with the kit.I also added new brass railing to the c/t and deck. The deck is solid brass and very heavy as compared to the original, but it is beautiful. So thats why I need the red brick under the keel.I guess I have to deal with it.But like I said it looks great.
