I have a JR 4 ch remote that is 72 MHz but I think I can convert it to a 75 MHz. My only problem is that I live in a small town and there isn't a hobby shop here to do it. Can anyone explain to me how to convert it?

This is not a home project that you want to tackle unless you are a FCC-certified individual. To do so can incur fines, etc.

You need someone like the folks at Radio South to take a 72MHz radio and do the conversion to 75MHz.

What I did is basically the same principal. I was finding the weight it took to submerge it like you are doing.

Ok I'll find someone who is certified to do it near me. And also can I connect the bow planes and the ailerons to the same channel so that on goes up the other goes down and vice versa?

I have a weird question to ask, what is the youngest person on here that builds subs? That you know of anyway.

Sorry, but it is not weight. It is displacement that counts.

You can connect them to the same channel...but it is not recommended. Best practice for boats with both bow and stern planes is to use the stern planes to control pitch angle and the bow planes to control depth. This mimics how the real boats do it.

I only have four channels but if I get it converted I can add more channels if I need to.

You mentioned a caulking tube as a piston ballast tank. That will take some experimenting
to decide. Wether it can stay sealed well enough when you pump water into it.
Were you thinking of using the original plunger or creating a new one? Type in piston
ballast in youtube and you can see all types of homebuilt stuff.

Yeah, alot of old guys here. We have one member who was in his teens when
he built his successful submarine. Best thing you can do is continue to ask
questions and see if anyone lives close by you can check out there sub!

Thanks I'm 14 and I plan to make a new plunger for it that way I know it is sealed. I have seen a lot of YouTube videos and most people used either a single or double syringes which would be two small and if you didn't use a pressure hull you can't use them.

I'll have to look them up. The only problem I have is there isn't anyone else around here so I'm afraid I might have to ship it some where for them to convert it. It's not a big deal but I would prefer them to be around here. But anyway I'll keep everyone updated on my build. Right now I'm finishing the lower hull and putting some of the fittings on it.

I have yet another question to ask. In what order do I need to put my electronics in? I mean like as far as the wtc in concerned. I would think, correct me if I'm wrong, I would have my battery(s), the receiver, and my dive plane servo in section one. In section two I would have my ballast motor and ballast tank. In section three I would have my Esc, rudder and aileron servos, and my motor. Would that work or do I need to move anything into a different section?

There's no set or mandatory 'organization' for what goes into the dive module. I think one could find just about every possible combination out there.

The one thing you should strive to do, however, is to center the ballast tank around the boat's center of gravity. If the location of c.g. of the real boat is not known, then placing it roughly in the center of the boat is a good place to start.

That's what I was trying to do. I just figured I would have the ballast in the middle. The battery in front would be the same weight of the electronics in the back so the c.g. Would be centered. I build rc planes out of balsa wood and I have to do this with them but I have the c.g. According to my plans.

I have yet another question to ask. When I hook up my motor to my receiver and plug the battery into the receiver, my motor doesn't work. Do I need to have a battery for the receiver and one for the motor?
