    Engel Typhoon

I am curious. Has anyone built an Engel Typhoon, building one, or have the kit?

    Re: Engel Typhoon

Ramesh (Wheelerdealer) has one. He carried out a few mods to the original design, but most of the original kit remains stock.
As featured in the most watched model submarine film on Youtube- getting on for 3 million hits now!

Mick Higgott has an older Engel Typhoon hull (which had a more pointed bow and no anechoic tile detail), with re-engineered insides by Ron Perrott. This features twin modules, with four piston tanks mounted fore and aft. Because the dive tank volume is split over four tanks instead of two like Engel, the dive time is reduced to just a few seconds. Most impressive for a model of this size.

Mick's boat can be seen on this video alongside Ramesh's boat. Moveable rudders were mounted behind the fixed shrouds to improve the turning circle.

Bob MArtin built up an Engel Typhhon, and carried out quite a few mods similar to Ramesh's boat

I remember throwing in a few facts on that one.

That is, without doubt, the most accurate version of TK17 ever built.
          Period.

So, there is no one in the subcommittee building one of these right now, or has a hull kit?

            Hi Wayne,

Yes it's true and gabriel long years working on this project. That of Mankster is very beautiful too.

Noone I know of is building one at the moment, but if they are, they're keeping very quiet about it.

It's a big hefty model, and is one of the more expensive kits in the Engel range, so I think you really have to like it to want to build one.

The Kehrer version often gets overlooked, and that builds into a very nice boat, perhaps a little less accurate for the purists, but close enough for me. A modeller here in the UK built up a version, and added his own anechoic tile detail.

I went over to the French website and skimmed the TK17 build. I really wish it were in english. I remember we debated a lot of details.
In the end, an awsome build, and probably can not be duplicated.
                Impressive.

Don't you use Google translator, Wayne?

It's not perfect, but it does enough I think.

You don't have to read them all unless you want to, but the translator enables you to step through them just as you would normally.

                        Hi
Wayne you can talk in English on scalesub without problem. Gabriel will answer you in English too. I do not speak much English, but with google translation I make the effort to speak English on subcomitee

your book is in English and over 20 pages and I purchased good, but it's true, there are a lot of pictures

Yes Gab's Typhoon is going to be top knotch! I'm just waiting till he finshes so I can start on a 1/100 Dmitri Donskoi... But with my own dive system to cut down on the weight of the things.

A Dimitri Donskoi !! An excellent idea!!
But why wait for Gabriel to finish? Get rolling. It takes a long time to crank out something like that.
