ok, seen the movie and 'impressed' by the Subs.
(think it will make lot of noise and cavitation in the real world eh), but despite of the exotic design, what do u guys think ?

first time I saw it I was thinking about Type XXI U-Boat.

From seeing the movie twice, it looked to me that the NAUTILUS must have had hydroplanes - though I never saw any. In the scene where she is hove-to undergoing repair she seemed to ride at an appropriate height (that's freeboard, right?) When she was under way she rode the surface of the water.

or for that matter be propelled but threaded cones for props ?

I was wondering about that myself. The only way that would work would be as a turbine I would think. But I am far from being an expert.
