I built the master for this sometime ago, and it's been sat in a dark corner of the workshop for long enough, so I finally got my finger out and moulded some tooling for it. Model is 19" long, and was mostly based on the AMT kit, with a few alterations to more accurately reflect the movie drawing.

I've made the tool from polyester resin and CSM. The tool is in four parts, which makes for easy release, and there was a slight undercut on one of the scribed lines. Still got some final finishing to do, and the rubber tooling to cast for the four periscopes and rudder.

Haven't posted to this for a while, chiefly because the hull was up on a shelf gathering dust.

Anyway, finally tooled up the scopes and rudder. So that's all the glasswork out of the way on this boat, so next job is the props and railings, both will be fashioned from brass and soldered together.

The scopes are moulded in polyester GRP, and filled inside with polyurethane foam, which makes them float (just). the rudder was also moulded in polyester GRP, and filled with glass strands, very tough. Hull halves have been joined in the tool. The white bits on the yellow gelcoat, are just a wipe of filler here and there.
