Glue question?

I am just curious if anyone has tried the new Gorilla superglue yet?
I saw a short report in a UK model magazine about it working out well for model boat use.
I plan to get some to try.
Hopefully it will be a winner!! BD.

Looked it up. Says it's got rubber particles in it- nothing new there, cyano manufacturers have been doing that for years, but perhaps they've got something else going on here?

I've always found the best way to make a cyano joint super stong is to wrap some cotton or carbon tow roudn the joint first then saturate with the glue. Not so hot where you need fine detail though!

Been using it for about a year now BD. I like it, Works great. I get mine at the Depot, about 6 bucks a bottle.

Bob Smith glues make the rubber particle glue in the normal black color and the flex in clear. This stuff works !!

Are the vapors as strong as the c/a that has been on the market for years.I have to wear a mask when I use any type of c/a type glue due to inhaling vapors that have really screwed up my resputory system.

I personally don't smell it when I am using it, however you may because of your past exposure. I find that it is a nice flowing medium CA that bonds relatively quickly and quite strong. Firsttime I used it, I repaired my Thor Sturgeon stabilizer poolside, and had it back in the water about 40 minutes later. The repair is still holding a year later.

I've been using it for years. Seems to stay on better that other CA longer after exposure to water. I can't remember a Gorilla Glue CA joint that has failed where exposed to water. I have noticed that with others, as I've still used others that I received, say at the SubRegatta, because they were free. The only drawback is that the Gorilla Glue brand only comes in one viscosity.

Ditto on that one. Medium viscosity only. Also don't an open bottle sit for too long (>6 months). I noticed that the time to set increases with the age of the glue. I replaced my older bottle with a new one and the set times were back to being pretty darn quick. Must be something to do with exposure to the air that slowly reduces the set time of the glue, I know that it is an aerobic reaction which sets the glue, but possibly cyanoacryilite components eveaporate over time after the bottle is initially opened.???

Storing your bottle of CA under refrigeration once opened will extend its useful life considerably. Just be sure to keep it capped, and be darned sure no one can mistake it for a condiment !

Maybe you might want to keep the C/A in the fridge like I do not under it .It might keep longer!

You guys have not lived till you try CA on your deviled eggs!

I find I use the medium CA more for building the boats anyway.
I would rather have it than the thin kind.
