    Dial-a-depth!!

Well this is one I can't take credit for the name.
Mr. Jeff LaRue coined the term.
I expanded on an idea we both had for controlling piston tanks.
I ran it by Jeff and he said he has been using a system like this and called it dial-a-depth.
It is very simple and just uses a set marking to give the control pot a point to reference from.
    A datum I guess.
In my version I installed a rotary pot on my Multiplex EVO that has a very wide liner travel.
I also installed a wheel under the pot that will rotate and has three points marked on it.
    0% 50% 100% piston travel.
Basically I will use it to set let’s say decks-a-wash for any given body of water.
Once that point is set I will know if I turn the dial to that point the sub will (should) be at decks-a-wash.
It will just give me a better indication of where to set the tank volume.
This is all new to me but Jeff says it works well for him.
I will let you know how I make out.
Jeff said he will not get me for copywrite infringement on this. BD.

Yes...but let's not forget trademark infringement.

I like BD's take on this as he has created a very easy to use visual reference. The way I do it depends on the Multiplex Evo "monitor" capablity that is used to monitor the servo position on each channel. Essentially I Dial-a-Depth (tm) until I get just the periscope out of the water...and then note the percentage of servo travel on the display on the transmitter. Once I know that I can dial back to that same point at any time. I can adjust the ballast volume in 2% increments.

In BD's case, he simply adjusts the rotary pot to get the desired depth setting and then moves the 'marker' to align with the pointer on the pot.

Very nice boys, I like it. Seeing that I have that same radio (thanks to Jeff) I will be trying them both.

If you slot the pot over a three way toggle switch, you only need to dial in the pot once per dive session. Then just use the switch for surface, neutral bouyancy and full flood.
