Well I have no more excuses.
I have to get the 212 painted for the regatta.
If I don't CI and the rest of the 8-balls will never let me hear the end of it!!
I have in fact been looking of the correct color paint for the upper deck.
It is a very hard color to match as in every photo you see of the boat it looks different.
I am going with the Italian colors as I think it looks better than the Black on Black on Black on Black!!
I am sure you get the picture.
The color is kind of a Blue/gray. At least that is how it looks to me.
Not being one who likes to airbrush even though I have a very good one, I tend to gravitate towards the old standby Krylon.
After staring at colors till I went cross-eyed I think I found one.
Bahama sea.
Putting a swatch in Photoshop next to the real color and picturing a few dunks in Don's pool for some SFD (Scale Fading Detail) I think it is close and works for me!!
Here a few photos of the real boat and the color swatch.
As the Krylon add says, No drips, no runs, no errors!! We shall see!! BD.

I thought the same thing. So that is what I ordered.
No one in town had that color.
Go figure.
It cost me over twice as much for shipping as the paint cost.
What can you do!! BD.

Well Jeff I have been pondering that question myself.
I have some Floquil grimy black , tarnished black, and engine flat black I was going to experiment with.
You have anthing you like? BD.

I had to show a photo of a 1/96 212 painted by my friend Steve Neill.
Steve built this for a customer that had purchased one of Steve's 212 kits a few years back.
There is no scribing on this hull either.
He did this all with a airbrush.
This is just how I want my color scheme to look.
Excellent work my friend!! BD.
