After a whole week without news, let's give some more:
On thursday I made a little test with the improved rudder: Too big. The hull tends to roll, specially when going at high speed. This test did'nt lasted too much because I had a failure with the new ESC, and went back to the base quiclky.
This morning a went back to the pond. It was a fine morning so we (me and other fellows with saling boats) had a lot of spectators. The AKULA impressed everybody. It's really a nice hull.
With the less enhanced lower rudder, the hull still tends to roll, but fewer.
She tends to surface when turning due to trimmed with top of the sail awash, but it can be counteracted with a few "dive" order to planes.
Ballast tank fills in ten seconds. Empties in ten also, but the hull still needs some more time to raise completely. A very real action.
Once the ballast tank if full, and with less than 2/3 ahead, she needs very few angle in the planes to dive or surface, and then it's quite easy to keep her under the water at periscope depth. (Let's see: It's quite easy when you learn to move your radio sticks as few and tender as you can. All you need is a little practice).
Turning radius is now good (3 to 4 lengths surfaced, only 2 dived).
I made a couple of "deep dives" (more than 1 metre), and have to say that she behaves nicely. The problem is the fear you feel when begin to loos her from sight. That's the moment you act on the controls too hard, makig the sub answer in an abrupt way.
