If I was looking to buy a new rig today, I would look very closely at the Multiplex range. These are excellent radios that have been very well thought out for the modeller, with clear uncluttered cases but with stacks of features underneath.

As it stands I have a Futaba FC16 which is effectively an F14 with a computer bolted on. No plans to upgrade anytime soon.

Unfortunately I don't think this set is available to you guys.

      Erich,

I'm a fan of the Multiplex Evo radios. Find a 7-, 9-, or 12-channel radio on 72MHz and get the RF board converted to 75MHz. That's what I've done.

      -Jeff

      p.s. I have a 7-channel that I'm looking to sell.....

              Hey Matt,
              Its not a super radio.
It is a super-dooper radio!! BD.

I, too, would be interested in going that same route. Can you tell us, please, who converted it for you?

                Thanks,

                  Dan,
Your radio of choice would have to be sent back to the company (Multiplex-Futaba) or whatever tech department and retuned.
This is what Jeff and I did. I had to supply a 75MHZ Multiplex crystal and the tech retuned my RF section to 75MHZ.
I don't remember the cost but it was fairly inexpensive.
Not all companys will do this I have heard so it is best to check before you buy. Dave.

Yes, I think it was a total of $25, which included postage. The technician use to work for Hitec/Multiplex, but I think he's now an independent contractor now.

I'll need to go look in my build logs to see who/where I sent it. (but I remember that it was some place in California).

                        BD & Jeff,

I sent a message to Hitec/Multiplex asking about this service. This is their reply:

                        Hello Dan,
Thank you for choosing Hitec/Multiplex products. We do not convert EVO’s to 75MHz.
                        Thank you,

Re: Looking for source for 75mhz computer radios

                          Dan,

I am looking into this and marketing the Multiplex radios. It is workable to get them converted. Hitec/multiplex will NOT cooperate in doing so. It will be necessary to purchase a 40 mhz european radio, or 72 mhz if you can find one and get it converted by an engineer who is licensed and capable of performing the necessary changes. We have a source for doing the conversion. We are currently working with another manufacturer who will build 75 mhz radios for us well into the future. They do not have all of the thrills of the multiplex radios. They are a standard 4ch/6ch format with a micro 6 channel reciever. 75 Mhz radios will become VERY hard to find after the first of the year as most manufacturers are terminating production. We are trying to be proactive and address the issue now. The answer for vendors is to not hord existing stocks of 75 mhz radios. That is a bad business model and sentences your business to eventual death.

                          Matt
                          Regards,

                          Matt

                              Dan,
I have dealt with the Hitec/Multiplex guys and they are a bit confused as far as the Multiplex radios go.
The radio is far superior to the Hitec and they seem to consider it the bas--rd child.
The service was much better when Multiplex had their own outlet and was not in cahoots with Hitec.
That being said the best thing to do is keep checking eBay for a radio to come up.
I will PM you the address of the guy that converted mine.
Shoot him an email and see if he still does it. BD.
