Nautilus Dry Docks 31 inch Nautilus build

I just finished this for a customer and will test her in the pool this coming Monday. Cylinder was custom built for this boat by BigDave. As usual he did an excellent job and great service.

She has a variable pitch prop. And interesting task to achieve. Bob Martin was instrumental in helping me with reference to the boat he built sharing pictures, video and data. Thanks Bob. It's his 31 inch kit. It was a real pleasure doing business with the Dry Docks. Delivery was quick and well packed. The kit included the VoodooFX lighting package.

I will be doing a article about this build in the next SCR.

Here's some pictures of the finished boat. This is a great kit. Well detailed, zero voids and bubble to fill and all the parts fit so well. Best resin kit I've put together to date!

      Steve,
That's a real nice Nautilus you've assembled, very nice work as usual, but I'm sure your aware of your standard of excellence by now. You gotta love big Dave's cylinder's, the way they can be disassembled for ease of access, a wonderful design. I'm sure the owner will be pleased. Thanks for sharing. Al,

Thanks Al and Redboat! That will be soon as the paint dries.

And BigDave says, it's a variable angle prop! Ha!

            Steve!

I have that kit! I thought she was too heavy to convert to R/C operations. How much did you have to modify her?

It would take awhile to explain but the full report is on SP. She works fine and has a decent freeboard. Testing in the pool now. Video later.

You only need to slip in the WTC, make your linkages, trim and test. Hull is heavy, but works just fine as is. I've built four of these already, and they work great!

Ive got some video of the last one on YouTube. Just look under my moniker of RCSubGuy.

Hope you'll post the build report here too for those non SP members.
I'm sure a lot of budding submariner will be interested in seeing how the the prop tilting mechanism works.

Tested her in the pool today and in the night with the lights on. The boat ran very well and BigDave's Cylinder gave her more freeboard than I had hoped for. She was easy to trim. Dives easy and the variable angle prop really works great.
Thanks to BigDave and Bob Martin for all their help and support. And Voodoofx for the lighting!

Nice 'N' Steve. Did you gimble the prop for pitch only, or for pitch and turn?

BTW, you can post videos direct onto the forum by using the 'video' tab option, just put the video url in between the markers and it will appear as if by magic.
