    Quick Q regarding Engel boats

Does anyone see any issues with running an Engel boat set up for 12V SLA batteries on a 14.4V NiMh battery pack?

The dive modules that I got show the motors as rated at 6V, but the piston enclosure says its a 12V unit. I want to get away from the lead-acid batteries and throw in a nice, tight NiMh battery pack. That will give a bit more oomph to the drive motor, which I'm pretty sure will handle it, but I'm worried about the TMAX dive board incorrectly reading voltage for the low battery mode.

    Any thoughts?

Not overly familiar with these boats, only ever looked at one at the poolside and run a volt meter over one that was playing up once. Ramesh has a couple of Engel boats, so hopefully he can give some advice.

Have you tried contacting Engel directly about this?

Don Osler has one. He did an article in the SCR about it a while back.

No problems for the piston tanks if they are 12v versions, and the TMax board has user selectable low voltage safety feature which you can set for 12v so that should be ok.
