There was a marerial called Tufnol or Pirtoid which is a laminated, plastic type material used in the manufacture of tooling in the aerospace industry.

Have you looked at derlin ,i may have the spelling wrong.
I have turned this in both wood and metal lathes ,very easy to work with.

Metal spinning sounds interesting. Let us know how it goes.
I've thought about spinning aluminum torpedo bodies over a mandrel.
