    Alrosa PJ round 5

Well I am at it again.
I have decided to try yet again to get the Alrosa functioning as a sub that actually moves through the water with some authority.
I see Wayne doing it with his Akula.
    So I must try again.
This time I will not go so much for the scale look but for a simi-scale functioning ( ) unit.
It will be more like a Seawolf PJ on a Kilo than the Russian squirter.
I am updating my Kilo cylinder kit so I needed a test bed.
I have the design figured out for the PJ and started the mod.
You can see from the photos I will hopefully be posting that the impeller is much larger than the round 4 version.
    Well back to work. BD.

The photo posting worked GREAT!! Thanks Ronald!!

    Thanks Dave !

still a lot to do, but we'll get there. by all means, also be sure to let me know if something is
NOT up to snuff, because the biggest task is testing, and I cannot do all testing by myself.

        Well it works!!
And it seems to work well.
I had the PJ in the water with a motor connected and it spins freely and seems to push the water much better.
I will know better when I test in a pool.
Pardon my very old and well worn Kilo.
Must be 8 years on that Krylon and it has not come off yet .
Even with the acid water in the Y pool.
I will get some video at the next outing. BD.

          Cool beans Dave!
Glad to see some thrust coming out of her.
I still say you should get one of those shrouds I was talking about, and shorten it/ slide it over your impellor for the scale look. I am sure the answer is there.
Maybe a 1/144 Trumpeter Seawolf shroud is laying around out there by one of the members that used a Merrimen pumpjet in it's place?
Put that bump on the back of the impellor with the dimple in it, and you would be cooking in Crisco

            Re: Alrosa PJ round 5

Let me start out by saying.
Although the sub ran very well, it ran so slow that it did not turn worth C__P!!
            Pump Jets S__K!!
It was moving way faster than scale speed but with the small rudder you need much more water moving past the rudder to turn.
It was a fun boat to run with the prop, now it is just a slug in the water.
Maybe that is why the real sub is sitting in drydock somewhere.
I would need to move the PJ further back to get more intake volume which was the consensus of my problem from my 8-ball brothers.
This would look retarded so it ain't happenen!! BD.
