Wooden decks on modern subs - what color?

    To All,

Some modern subs still have some part of the upper casing to be wooden decks. Does anyone know what color the deck would be after some period at sea?

    Thanks,

    Dan

    wooden deck grating

Howdy - Two years ago, I got the chance to go onto the top of the USS Blueback. There is a deck grating, just in front of the sail, which was made of wood. the grating was hinged on the right side and was opened at the time. Inside were coils of rope and some tools. At the time I saw it, it was just painted black, just like the rest of the upper hull. Best Wishes Mike Dory

      Originally, the Blueback's teak deack

Originally, the Blueback's teak deack was the natural teak color. Over time, they decided that it needed a non-skid coating and painted it black.
