Are either of these radios suitable for RC sub?

Could someone tell me if either of these radios are suitable for a RC sub in the UK?

    I don't know what are

I don't know what are legal frequencies in the UK for surface R/C but neither radio appears to be offered in 75MHz which is the legal surface frequency in the US.

Assuming you could get them in your legal frequency the first one, the one for airplanes, would work out best for you. If you have some choice regarding frequencies remember that the lower the frequency the better for submarine work. Lower frequencies penetrate the water better. Therefore, if you could, go with the 35MHz version.

      Rockhopper.

      40mhz is what you need

      Rockhopper.

40mhz is what you need for Rc Sub.

I have never heard of this sytem before.
      Seems really cheap.

Depends on your sub application, Size of sub if it's twin screw do you want individual control over the props for turning???

      1. Single screw or Twin linked.
      2. Twin screw/ independent operation
      3. Rudder
      4. Fore Hydroplane
      5. Rear hydroplane
      6. Dive System. ie pump, tanks, propane.

If it was upto me i would look around for someone swapping to 2.4ghz say a heli or plane pilot. Look for a Futaba FF9 and swap the module from 35mhz to 40mhz.

Try and get a TX thats got as many Channels as possible.

Ok it's more expensive but if you think about it you might want more functions to work on your sub. Or perhaps another sub in the future.

      Just my thoughts

      Best regards

        Looks like a Chinese 'no-name'

Looks like a Chinese 'no-name' brand. Some of these are very good, and some are awful. In short you're taking a punt if you purchase one of these.

If you want an affordable 40mhz set, a Hitec Laser 6 will do the job. You will get a UK warranty, and it's a known brand.

Sussex model centre do Hitec kit at fair prices. It is more expensive than the set you have posted, but not by much.
