    New Sub Hull ?

Not yet...but I'm working with someone to get a kit into production. Probably will be at least 18 months before we see anything....

    Kind of early to tell

Kind of early to tell much yet.....

The hull and conning tower will be based off the Gerhard Beck plans and will be an epoxy hull. The kit will utilize my PE main and conning tower decks....recently completed for my one-off that I've been working on. The dive planes, bow plane guards, rudder, skeg, and A-frame that I've already created will serve as masters for the kit as well.

Not sure yet which variation the kit will be, but I am leaning towards either the IIA or IIB. Since there is a slight LOA variation between the two in 1/32nd scale, a decision will need to be made.

Check out my Type II build thread for some ideas as to what the boat will look like at http://s181686668.onlinehome.us/phpB...ic.php5?t=5236

Interesting technology, but unless someone is using it as the basis of a service I don't see any chance of using it. I'm certainly not going to invest in it.

Plus given the low volume for this hobby market, I suspect that the most cost effective way will still be the epoxy and glass cloth layup.

                ...

                hi John,
The sub in the photos you have posted is one I had scratch built. The hull took about a month to build. And if you go with a wtc instead of trying to build everything inside like I did you will have it in the water a lot faster. good luck. Jeff L. what happened to the molds yours came from? Looks like that would make a perfect kit? Jeff J.

                  Hi JeffJ,

                  The molds that were

                  Hi JeffJ,

The molds that were used for my hull only produced three hulls before they were destroyed. I don't remember the exact circumstances.....but we would have had to make new molds anyway since this hull had a number of problems with symmetry. In particular the keel skeg in the area of the prop A-frame was tilted and slightly off center. A number of other, minor things I was able to correct right on the cast hull.

One thing I did not try to fix was the LOA. It's in between a Type IIA and a IIB.

Having said that, the hull as it stands today *could* be used as a new master....but since it's now a running boat, I'm not sure I want to do that.
