    1/100 ish typhoon

i have started building a screatch build 1/100 typhoon
i have started to mold a hull and have just fisnished glueing the parts together
heres what i have so far

1st pic is of my hotwire foam factory - (i got my wife to cut the parts out for me girls are much better at crafts)
thing is GREAT for cutting polly to shapes - i cut ouside the line and then sand down the edges to correct shape

2nd pic is of the Bottom section of hull, i decided to make my hull already split rather then a whole and cut latter this is about 70% of the length ( total length is 79 inchs give or take)

3rd pic - rough cut (before sanding) of top and bottom sections

4th pic - a whole ton of parts top and bottoms rough cut - total amount of parts to be cut - sanded glued is 200+ including - bottom hull top hull front and rear and coneing tower

    Looks like you have a

Looks like you have a good start there! Is that the white foam that cosists of a ton of little "beads"? Next time, if you make the forms from the pink or blue construction foam from Home Depot or the like, you'll find that it will be easier to work with and can easily be sanded to shape. Its far more dense and will hold its shape better than the white stuff.

Looking forward to seeing how you make out! Keep posting updates!

      yea its the little white

yea its the little white beads
i looked far and wide for the pink of blue but becasue i live in hawaii
(no real need for it here as its prety much 74f here all year long )
i couldent get it - not even home depot has it here

white foam was all i could get - when i sand it i get a little bit of the foam balls comeing out - BUT i have founda way to fix that

to glue my parts together i used regular white glue
yep $2 a bottle from walmart - mixed it with a little water to make it easier to paint on
but as i didi i noticed it filled all the little holes and dried rock hard
so thats all i have done to my sanded edges

so last night i gluded the top and bottom sections together
      now to start sanding

        i have 3 choices i see
fill the shape with molding clay or such
        sand it
use my hot foam cutter to try and free hand it

          Try the wallboard tape "spackling"

Try the wallboard tape "spackling" compound. It doesn't "eat" the foam and doesn't cost much. It sands easily but does make a mess. Good luck with your project and keep posting as you go.

problem solved - i got angery with it today and just started hacking into it with my hand held hot wire

            guess what

            came out fine

photos latter when glue drys and i shape it onto the main hull

1 week from start to fisnish for a hull shape - not bad for 1st try

my hot wire foam factory stuff helped a ton

i have the scroll table - hand held shaper and a scribe/ plunge tool

will add photos of this stuff latter as well

                  so i just did my

so i just did my 1st 2 layers of fiberglass

                  epoxy resin
                  6oz cloth

never used fiberglass before - my teacher - YOUTUBE
                  my results
its OK - not bad not great but ok
i hopeing it looks a little better with the 3rd layer - sanding and patching (fiberglass brins out the low spots - so im gona layer small patches to raise them up and sand them down)

pics when my wife gives me the ok to stop whatching the baby (if i wan to build a sub - i have to lewife have her ime too)

                    3rd layer of glass just

3rd layer of glass just went on

looking good - most the bumps and dips from the mold are now more flat
so i think sanding will give me a good finish

                    heres fiberglass pic

and yes i work on the floor A LOT
