But what I found is that often a plain PC microphone (a socalled electret)
works best of all. just wrap a balloon (or a condom) around the mic.
And add some weight, e.g. a few steel nuts.

I´m afraid I´m a bit of an electronics illiterate, but a friend of mine is a software and firmware designer, so I think I will turn to him to get these very useful gadgets realized.
