    Micro Cylinder Project

    Hi All,
I just wanted to show a few photos of my finally completed micro cylinder. It is only 1.25" OD and this one is 10" long.
I can vary the length to suite the hull.
It is all Submicro (Ha!!) electronics inside.
It even has a small brushless outrunner motor and F/R ESC.
I was originally thinking of selling them but have decided it was way too much work to build them.
You don't have a MM to spare inside for interference tolerances.
I went through many blank caps trying to get everything to fit on the end cap and still allow the three outputs to exit from the cap.
I have been working on the project for about a year now and finally had a chance to finish it up.
The little thing works like a champ. No leaks and the power output from the micro brushless motor is amazing.
I finshed it more for me so I could say to myself that I did it.
As yet I have not installed a ballast system but do have some ideas and room.
Not much room but I can lengthen the cylinder depending on the hull.
Now to get a good test subject.
I am thinking maybe my old Dragon 1/350 Typhoon kit. It would be easy to make a simple external one into two gearbox for the twin props.
    We will see. BD.

      BD,
      you like fast things,

      BD,
you like fast things, right ?
      you could consider a torpedo...

did you manage to get a decent CG ?

alternatives would be the trumpeter scale 1/144 gato, revell 1/144 VIId or the trumpeter type 33 (probably an early russian Romeo). all with TWIN screws. then there is the Revell typ 212..

              All excellent choices. http://www.subcommittee.com/forum/icon_biggrin.gif

              All excellent choices.
I have the Type-33, 212, and Typhoon kits.
Believe it or not it will even fit in a Revel 1/180 Lionfish.
Which is smaller than the others .
I really like the Type-II but the cost for the kit is a killer. The R/C torpedo is a cool idea.
I do actually have a hull the the cylinder is eventually going in but I am not at liberty to show it without permission.
I will pick something when I get some time to work on it. BD.

                BD,
                About that torpedo idea. Remember

                BD,
About that torpedo idea. Remember the Don Knotts movie the Incredible Mr. Limpet? In one scene they had that cartoon homing torpedo, an r/c torpedo would be way cool!
