The top deck section just lifts off, it will be secured by a quick release clip at the bow and a single screw at the stern...the centre frame is held on by seven 6BA brass nuts and bolts. Undoing those takes only a minute and gives access to rudder/stern plane linkages, etc.
For quick access to the radio on/off switch, crystal, battery charge, etc, I lift off the deck section(one screw and the quick release clip)that exposes the radio box lid....that has a screw cap fitted which allows plenty of room for even my fingers to do whatever is needed.
Access is very good to the internals Ramesh, it a vast improvement over my first one I built(the one I lost)
Been thinking about that Andy...bright orange for the main body I think(I can get that free from work )and large black areas on the top deck and lower hull.
A pic of the interior of the r/c box in SeQuel 8...
The battery pack is a temporary fit just to give me an idea of how much space I needed to leave. The new pack should be here next week sometime after the Easter break.
Today I decided to add another forward viewing port, these will be illuminated from inside via a clear LED, and hopefully will shine light forward whilst underwater.
The ports themselves are made from cut down specimen bottles borrowed from my doctors surgery....yes, they were new ones!
Just as a comparision, this is a picture of how the set of mouldings was planned to look like when assembled by the original designer, a chap by the name of Robert Read, one time member of the Association of Model Submariners.
Managed a few hours on SeQuel 8, this picture shows the flashing warning beacon and the two external seachlamps trial fitted. The wiring needs to be sealed and the searchlamps need to have their lenses fitted.
The internal illumination, which will shine out through the two lower viewing ports, will be a 1amp LED fitted in a sealed rubberised container, as this will be fitted into the free flood area. The flashing beacon is driven by a small flasher module which is being contructed for me and will sit in the r/c box.
The new 35mm four bladed brass prop arrived yesterday, it needed a new nozzle making as the existing one wasn't really big enough, so I've made up a new one, 25mm deep which should give much more turning power.
Hoping so Andy, some of those pools that they assemble at the shows are a bit on the tight side.
Got sent home from work today with a nasty cold bug, and not wishing to waste a day off, I drilled out the r/c box lid and installed an access hatch so I can get at the r/c charge socket without taking the complete cover off. Just the neck and screw cap from an energy drink bottle, and glued in with silicone sealant.
