    U-536

I am planning a diorama, 1/72nd scale, depicting the sinking of U-536 in Nov,20, 1943 by the corvette "HMCS Snowberry" and others. On u-boat.net U-536 is listed as a type IX-C/40 built by Deutsche Werft,Hamberg commissioned 13 January 1943. In the " Interrogation of Survivors " January, 1944 Ref.# C.B. 04051 (93) U-536 is given as a type VII-C,Tonnage 740 built by Deutsche Werft, Hamberg commissioned 13th February 1943. Could someone clear this up for me. If it was a type IX-C/40 is there a kit or a conversion kit for it in the 1/72nd scale available ?
Thank you all for any help that you can extend to me. Jeff

Also J&D were , 3 years ago , looking at putting out a IXC/40 but whether that was done or not I don't know

        The second link in Davie's

The second link in Davie's post gives the name and number of the guy (Don) who was talking about possibly offering a resin 1/72 Type IX kit. Doesn't look like he ever made such a thing available, though I may be wrong.

Otherwise if your really wanting to do a 1/72 IX you'll just have to try to scratch build one yourself. Don't think any kit of this boat has been made in that scale.. Eventually, maybe Revell will create one. They could certainly use U-505 in Chicago as a reference.. If they were to release a new U-Boat in that scale any time in the near future, I think it would be a XXI though, since they already make a decent one in 1/144.
