    third version of my Trumpeter Kilo WTC

    I'm building a new WTC for my Kilo. In the process I also replaced the hull, so it is a
    whole new Kilo.

    Things improved (hopefully)
    - turning radius. I made the whole rudder assemby into a rudder, not just the original
    rudder.
    - Less diveplane surface. It now only moves it's flaps. The previous had the whole
    dive plane movable.
    - faster ballasting. while nifty, the previous servo tank took too much time to flood.
    This one uses a much quicker special-purpose servo.
    - better waterline. The previous ballast tank was too small. the new one is almost
    double the size.
    - better access. no more bolts to unscrew, just one knob.

    add ons :
    - I plan navigation lights, powered by a set of small batteries (like the one in your watch)
    this will be housed separately in the tower (using up that precious extra ballast volume)

    The WTC itself is still standard DIY PVC thin walled drain pipe, the endcaps are
    standard PVC end caps, mutilated with a lathe.

      very simple, yet elegant way of getting the servo movement to the pushrods on your diving plane/rudder servos.

      and I second all of Scott's questions and more about the ballast tank. could you post more pics/descriptions on how you've got that set up?

        Unfortunately, I had the syringe long before Ibuilt the WTC.
        As far as I can remember I bought it in the shop where I get my
        polyester, epoxy etc. either that or I found it buried in the local DIY.

        about the drive mechanism, it is a lineair servo, which can be directly
        plugged into the reciever (and give you a proportional ballast tank as well).

        don't hesitate to ask further questions.

            If you know a local

            If you know a local vet, have a word with them. they use large syringes for all sorts of things. If you know a vet who deals with horses, then they'll almost certainly have large syringes!

            I'd hazard a guess that Ron is using a 100ml syringe.

              @andy
              140 ml, it is the largest I ever saw...
              but because the servo travels only 50mm it will contain slightly less than 60 ml of water.

              @Redboat
              I don't know yet how much water I need to dive, but I guess I will use all 60 ml
              in order to lower the wtaerline as much as possible in surface running.
