    Steve, do you power your

Steve, do you power your lights from the rx?
Or do you power them external of the WTC?
I was looking at RC LEDs that plug into the rx.
Not sure that is the proper way to go with a Sub-Driver or WTC.
    What did you do?
    Thanks

            LED's are a piece of

LED's are a piece of cake to work out, you only need to understand basic electrical units and a little bit of Ohms law.

This link is a little online calculator which speeds things up a lot.

              HAHAHA.
              Your going to laugh, but

              HAHAHA.
Your going to laugh, but I am a electronic technologist who worked 5 years with Military Sonar.

I know all about electronics, I however am learning about model subs.

I could run a system that runs direct from the rx for my SeaWolf.
I would run a system external in the SeaView.

You could say I know what I want, I just wanted to know how most are setting up their work....and I must say I am getting the confidence in the other areas I was weak in......CUTTING PLASTIC.

Now I am like a surgeon, and that drill press I now have....I am READY TO BUILD.

                Maxim IC do some really

Maxim IC do some really nice little LED driver chips. They tend to use switchmode technology, so they're very efficient.

However if you're driving just a few LED's then you can use linear regulation and/or resistors to limit the current.

                  I've got a Moebius Seaview

I've got a Moebius Seaview I plan to start in the fall of 09, but for now I am tweaking my SN 1:144 GW for this upcoming season.

I picked up a few LED lighting kits & switches, but I just came across this NERS switch from Chris Hansen. Chris is a great vendor. He was at this years WRAM Show, I enjoyed speaking to him. I did not know he had this switch until a week after the show...sigh! I ordered 2, one for my SN GW & one for my Seaview. (I am lighting my GW).

Since I have a 5 channel NOVAK receiver in my SN GW, (BD RCABS Kit)leaving a channel left over , I am going to use it for Rx LED lighting control. Why not go Rx for lights if you have a channel available? The NERS switch is only 18.00 & shipping is reasonable! Seems a waste not to do it!

Attached is the link for for the NERS link from Hansen Hobbies. Click on the instruction page included on the product description webpage!

                    Hi Steve.

I wish I could commission you to build me a Moebius Seaview...but being on a pension thats not possible...however I would like to ask you about foam and ballast in a Big Dave WTC build. I see the steel rods and the brass sleeves, very cool. I see very little foam. Did you use much?
Or is that a result of the WTC vs the Merriman build?
                    Thanks.

                      Just white dapron sheet foam

Just white dapron sheet foam you buy from the LHS used to make RC airplanes. It's the same stuff foam plates are made from.

I forget what it's called but it's several thin layers built up inside the hull between the bulkheads.

                      Hope that helps,

                      Steve

Well it's about time Mr. BD! Get busy! Build things. Go forth and multiply them!

And hey! I was building model RC airplanes with that stuff before it was every called that or had it in the LHS! Ha!

By the looks of it, one sheet will do one Seaview.
                            Correct?
                            Thanks guys.

I still got snow and lots of ice to melt...
so how about that Seaview unit Dave....
                            MMMM?

                                You can see it comes

You can see it comes in different thickness. Nice stuff to work with. BD.
