what size wtc to use in otw typevii

Hi all I'm looking for wtc dual prop for my otw type vii
was going to use the otw pump system but the weak dollar
and the strong pound changed my mind.
I guess I'm asking will 3.0 work or 3.5 work better

    thanks Mark

    Mark,

Either size diameter tube can work for the dry space(s) of the dive module, however you will want as large a diameter tube for the ballast section as the Type VIIC in that scale requires a large amount of workable ballast volume in order to get the boat to both the designed surfaced waterline and to the fully submerged state. A ballast tank that is longer will take up a lot more space and will create fore/aft trim problems as the water in the partially filled tank sloshes around...even with baffles.

So depending on what type of ballast system you are thinking of using, you may want to consider a larger diameter tube.

btw: the OTW dive module is 110mm (4-1/3 inches) in outside diameter and the length of the ballast tank section is (from memory) close to eight inches. That's a lot of water!

There is a 3.5-inch dual motor dive module on the market that was originally made for the old 32nd Parallel Type VII kit. This unit can work in the OTW hull, but if it's the Propel gas variant I'd seriously consider a different ballast system as the trim of the boat will change drastically as you use up the Propel. Best bet is to use a ballast system that does not use a "consumable"....something like the OTW pressurized system, RCABS or the air tube design used originally used by SubTech (think schnorkel).
