What's gone wrong....?

The kit...Steve Neil Blueback.

I've set the front bulkhead in place with tape to check it out, and I have this gap between the hull sides, you'll see it in the attached pic at the front. I've sanded the bow sections down to the lines, but whenever I try and put the bulkhead in place there's a gap. Do I have to cut the bulkheads down to fit? There's no mention of doing that in the build pics...
