    SWM Trenchant

Seems like a good sub. Of course, propulsor driven subs can't turn that well. Does this Trenchant suffer the same inability to turn on the surface as the Seawolf? Does the SWM Trenchant kit allow for workable bow planes?

I've sadly come to the realization that my "Seafox" will not have workable bow planes.

    Hi,

    Just in case you haven't

    Hi,

Just in case you haven't seen this yet.

On the surface I can get the Trenchant to turn in a 10 to 12 foot circle.

    Submerged about 5 to 7.

You could make the front dive planes work if you really wanted to. Not required based on how well this model handles, and I doubt the small surface area of the planes would really make much of a difference anyway.

Making the front dive planes work would mean a big mod to the WTC that Dave supplies.

    Cheers

      BC,

      That review is the only

      BC,

That review is the only reason I'm considering the Trenchant.

It seems like such a great kit and seems "cooler" than the Blueback, although I do think the Blueback is easier to carry and more maneuverable. I was just wondering if the decrease in performance was worth the "cooler" boat.

Seems like you're the only person (besides Manley) that has ever run this boat.

        I have helped others with

I have helped others with their builds over the years. There are more then 2 Trenchants out there.

From an RC scale standpoint, I have to admit the colour scheme is very helpful for driving the sub.

This IS the most reliable and easiest to drive submarine I have in the water.

If you have any questions, PM me or look up my e-mail off my website.

        Cheers

          I had a SWM Trenchant

I had a SWM Trenchant (now sold)

....so there's a few about I also have a SWM Blueback and the turing circle is far superior, and the ideal sub if you run in small pools and the like. Both are very good performers.

            That figures.

            A fixed nozzle reduces

            That figures.

A fixed nozzle reduces the turning circle of a boat by about 17-20% apparently.

If you made the nozzle steer, you'd have a boat that turns considerably better than just about anything in the pond. Not scale though.
