I will soon start working on the Seehund. there are several boats in museum but all have different paint schemes. What is generally the paint scheme for a Seehund? Are the cone and tail of the torpedoes a bright brass color like the Verlinden models?

Hi Dave,
I think all Seehunds
Hi Dave,
I think all Seehunds were delivered in a medium to light grey color. The individual crews would add some field 'camouflage' to the upper areas which varied greatly in pattern.
The G7e torpedo on display with the U-505 shows the warhead and afterbody sections to be made from steel. I think the "brass" color look comes from photos of torpedoes in U-boats where the torpedoes were covered with a heavy coat of a brownish-yellow grease.

p.s. Which Seehund kit?Rohr 1.....Los!

Seehund and Vesikko
I choose this kit because it is similar in scale to my Vesikko Type ll. It is from Rpmodeling. www.rpmodeltech.com
I am also going to use the torpedos with my Vesikko as well.

Rick, the owner, also has a Type 2 which is also built as the vesikko. In fact Barnstormer, used his model to make their Type 2.

Seehund
I might to a builder thread or possibly a SCR article on the build. The torpedoes on the kit will be static but I am getting two more that will operational for my Vesikko. Jeff, if you have any tips on final detailing, I of course welcome the input.

Cute little boat. Rivet detail
Cute little boat. Rivet detail on the conning tower looks a bit hefty to me- I'd be inclined to sand them out and fit some rivets the military modellers use, apart from that though it looks very accurate.
I like Seehunds, and this one is the right size. I've never seen or heard of this kit before, but always thought a 1/24th(ish) Seehund would make a great pocket sub, as they're so nimble, but chunky enough to make radio installation straightforward.
They run much better without the torpedos fitted, so I'd make them removeable- they add a lot of drag.
