    Octuras Thread The Needle Video

The Octura a modified HFM Deep Dive VI running in the clear waters of the Devels Den in Florida.
By the way thats the true speed not speeded up,and is about a third of what this sub is capable of!
Also the caverun runs are in the DEN.
This sub has been a blast to run and if more where made to race what a blast it would be to have races here at the DEN.
And of course thanks go to the video taker MarkGreen.

The pictures below are when the sub did not have the jet drive instaled. The Syringes are for ballast controlvia a windshield geared pump as she is a static diver.Direct drive torbo jetdrive and water cooled closed loop cooling presurized sytem.Remote led extra bright lights with low voltage external indicator and blinking nave lights.Fully diferential proportional forward diving planes via Futaba 9 CAP serface 32 channel robotic radio by Vanteck. The planes multiple programing give this sub its super agility and ease of use,I cant begin to tell you how fun this sub is!!
HFM DEP DIVE VI a great kit made even better with ease and not expensive.Runs about 30 min.depending on peed.Improved WTC from GSI Outdoors INC. If you have any more questions just let me know .
                Thanks Dave

It's an HFM Marine Deep Dive VI.

                      http://www.alansmodels.com/main_site/bo ... epdive.htm

The kit first appeared in the mid-80's as an affordable introduction to model submarines.

As standard, they work okay as a pond dipper, but they're not so hot for deep level diving, as the pressure hull is just a vac-formed box.

If you can pick one up cheap second-hand, they're worth a go, but if I was llooking to buy new, I'd rather invest my money in a Robbe Seawolf, which is only about £20 extra and a much better boat IMO.

David's version is very heavily modified.

                          As I mentioned above the

As I mentioned above the WTC was replaced with a food grade Lexan GSI Outdoors watertight box that has about the same dimentions as the one suplied.
It made a huge impruvement and now the sub is capable of 20 ft dives with no problems and opening is a snap! For 20 bucks it did the trik,so if you buy one of these subs be sure to use the GSI box.
I also fitted a dynamic diving system that uses syringes and a gearpump and is a must for ballanceing the sub at high speeds as well as gentle landings and very level risses..

For the money you cant go wrong with this great sub ,with just a few inexpensive modifications this sub out performes others costing much more, and with the unusual lines makes her even more interesting.
With this sub you can modify its diveplanes and add stern planes or use a jetdrive or propdrive. The sub has ample space as I installed 4 1.2 amp hour baterries and about 15 leds of diferent types to produce the fighter sub Octura.
I highly recomend this sub as a first sub or as an experimental test bed for all aspects of Rc subs.
Enjoy the vedeos and soon Ill post more!
