All,
After building a couple of different wet hull subs and scratch building a couple more that use stored gas ballast systems and wet hull design, I would like to try my hand at constructing a dry hull OHIO class SSBN that uses onboard compressors and pneumatically operated masts and working snorkel. I would also like to use piston tanks as trim tanks like the German guys do. I have a friend who runs a machine shop and has the expertise to machine he bayonett rings and other assemblies that you need but I have had a really hard time getting information on the following:
1. Parts list including the pneumatic cylinders, valves, regulators etc. needed for the ballast system. I have a plumbing diagram but its just a block diagram.
2. Parts list and sources for where I can get the electronics used for the compressed air ballast system. These subs use a failsafe device that prevents the snorkel from being opened when the sub is submerged and other features. A block diagram would be great so that I can see how it is all connected up.
3. An explanation of how the ballast tank is constructed. Ive seen pictures of the tanks and it looks like the central tube of the hull is used as the tank and there is a water tight pocket for the pneumatic masts. I'm not sure but I think thats how it works.
Anyway, I have researched these and other items on several German RC websites and have only been able to see pictures and sketches. I have tried to register with a German RC sub website called pressluftjunkies.de a couple of different times so I can post these same questions but for some reason they won't activate my account.
So if any of you out there in subcommittee land can help I would greatly appreciate it.
Merry Christmas to all,
EW
