He is just as good at still photography - notice the image showing his homebuilt video housing!

          You're right there for sure

You're right there for sure Steve! Makes you want to go out and try to duplicate Sal's success.

Senor Mar'on has a group of 10 guys who run subs in Spain - They call themselves "The Flotilla".

Here is the shot of the "conning tower housing" Salvador uses. Click on the image to get a BIG view.

              Tim,

              My hats off to these

              Tim,

My hats off to these guys. They are raising the bar.

Any chance you can persuade them to do a SCR article on their productions efforts.

My impression is they are using an HD video camera and their stills are photo grabs of the recorded content.

Outstanding work in all regards. This is absolutely the best content I have seen.

              Cheers
              Ben

Anyone know what the sub is shown in three of the photos? The older one. Maybe something from WW1. I am a sucker for different looking subs. Could it be Norbert's UB1? BD.

                  I've asked Sal to do

I've asked Sal to do a write-up for the SCR. He is a little reluctant since he is not sure of his English. I told him that we would help him out with it or we could find someone to translate among our membership. Let's hope he agrees!

I will ask him what he uses for stills.

                    Dave,

The one that looks like this?

I think it is a WW1 Austrian coastal sub ... but I haven't been able to positively identify it.

I think it is the UB1 from Norbert.

Salvador just sent me a couple of videos he did just for us explaining the housings he uses for most of his shots. The housings aren't so unusual, but the PVC periscope he has equipped them with to allow him to shoot from the dry is pure genius. He calls the large PVC tube the camera is in "160" (160 mm is about 6.25") and the clear plates 7 mm (.25") "metraquilato" (Lexan?).

His narration is partially in English and partially in Spanish - but it is still pretty clear what he did.

He also did a writeup for the SCR in much greater detail. Once we get it translated (Babelfish does a reasonable job) we will get Pete to publish it.

                              Thanks again Salvador!
