    why i love google

    my search for a hatch photo is over...

    Once a week i do an image search on google:

    Alvin (sub OR submarine OR submersible)

    just to see if google's web-bots have found anything new...


    today's search netted this jpeg:

      More photos hatch cover

      These are not the greatest - I took them from the video (VHS) and a DVD. The first shapshots of the Alvin, the others are of the Turtle
      The hatch of the vessel is 0.6 meters (two feet) thick, and held in place by the pressure of the water above it (it is tapered, narrower inward).

          I think the hatch is 2 feet wide not thick
