          Hi guys, silicone grease is

Hi guys, silicone grease is available at NAPA autoparts in a tube. Its called SIL-GLYDE in a 4 oz. tube. Part no. 765-1351. I was using 3 in 1 oil on my o-rings. after a while they started to leak even though there didnt appear to be anything wrong with them. So I started to use this stuff and havent had any leaks at o-rings since.

              i work at indiana university

i work at indiana university cyclotron and its a radiation experimentation place playing with gamma, proton, and neutron radiation.. in order to do this they have to do everything in high vacuum states so there are lots and lots of various oring seals everywhere big and small... and we mainly use viton and beuno (spelling?) and we use one grease mainly but there are others in specific requirements but mainly we use "L-Grease" by apiezon.

grease is completely hydrocarbon and is totally free of any silicones or halogens. Apiezon L is highly versatile and can be applied in a number of different ways. It doesnt take much to lube a oring either, most people over do it. But if you use this stuff be prepared for a high price cause its high grade stuff for high vacuums (air tight)...
