    Electronics.

It may sound stupid, but suddenly I started wondering: "Where the hell shall I get the GND for my electronics?". So my question is:

Can you use the - pole as GND for normal electronics. If not how about the water or a big capacitor?

Please help me with my foolish question.

    Andreas,

    just use the -

    Andreas,

just use the - pole of the battery as gnd.

you do not need to have a "real" ground,
i.e. a reference to the potential
    of mother earth.

I would not advise to drill extra holes in your boat's
dry compartment just to connect the -pole with the
    water.
and sweet water is not all that conductive anyway.
