    motor needs encouragement.

    Hello all,

I just bought a speed controller and hooked it up to my motor. works a treat. Except that now and then It sounds like it's straining to start you can hear it, and the propeller hesitates and moves just slightly back and forth. I give it some encouragement turning it and then running it for a couple of minutes. It's usually fine , just starting off sometimes it doesn't seem to want to tick over.

It's not jammed and it's not rubbing up against anything. It's free to run, it just hesitates sometimes.

Does anybody have a similair tale?

    regards,

Sounds like you have a lousy motor, or a lousy esc, or a combination of both.

Minimum 5-pole armature for a model sub.

Maxon, Buehler and Pittman are good bets for scale model subs.

I find these motors coupled with a decent esc can run at visible RPM.
