Hello if you are building
Hello if you are building a sub especially a large one than this system is the best and most economic way to go.
About 13 years ago I developed the onboard air compressor ballast system for RC subs and it proved to be very reliable safe and cheap to build.
Please refer to my article in the SCR ,I don't remember which one it was but I'm sure that Tim Smiley can find the article.
In that article I made several diagrams and then you may copy it as you like and ask all the questions you may have ,and we can post them .
In the pics you will see a small compressor ,it is an EngersoldRand unit that is very common and easy to obtain about 20.00$ .Also the air banks are updated to the new stainless steel ones and come in several sizes and are rated far above the 40 to 60 psi ratting we use on subs. Also Michelin makes a really nice digital pressure sensing auto turn off unit that can be fitted to a sub .
The cool blue readout shows the pressure rising and the set point for the unit to turn off at! And its only 35.00$ buck or so at PEPBOYS.
Also there is a one way valve that is used and solenoid valves ,3 each.
With this system any size ballast tank can be used and especially in those Russian nukes the waterline is much lower than other subs ,it highly recommended that a large ballast tank is used.
Just remember that no need to buy propel or other gasses and its totally green and safe, even approved by the Coast Guard, and works in theory just like the real thing.
No special switches or sensors required, just read my article and ask all the questions you may need.
