Small valves instead of roller servo arms.

    G'day all,

My boats use the common pressurised pump systme with a two way pump forcing water into a tank and then pinching the line. Sheerline/ OTW style.

for some time I've known about valves that you can buy that will allow the water to go in both directions and you can simply use a servo to open or release the valve. No side load on the servo arm and not rubbing against tube.

Problem is I run small boats and these valves are really big. like way bigger than my WTC.

I was perusing an old Subcommitee mag, Issue 62 Sept 2005. ( My boats on the front cover plug, plug!) and I was looking at the article by Roger Suitter on "The lacing Technique". On page 45 is a picture ( figure 11) of the same set up as my boat but with a very small equivalent valve to what I'm looking for.

Roger, If your out there can you contact me or any one who knows something about this small valve. It looks perfect. Tiny and a neat set up.

    where would I get one?

    Regards

    Does it have to be

Does it have to be servo operated? There are plenty of miniture solenoid valves about.

      G'day,

      It could be soleniod operated.

      G'day,

It could be soleniod operated. I am just not up on the Technology. If you could point me in the right direction. It's just that the pump needs to be activated in the same movement.

      would love to know more....

Could I please get some more responses from people?... Please....

      regards,

      David hughes

        The Clippard ones are popular

The Clippard ones are popular (subtech sell em as well ) http://www.clippard.com/store/byo_electronic/
One of the two-way 'Mouse' ones should do. Its easy to wire it so the you pump and valve are operated at the same time, either mecanically using a servo and a microswitch, or using an electric switch like the one Subtech sell.

            Dear Andy,

            Thankyou for the drawing

            Dear Andy,

Thankyou for the drawing of the brass valve. Unfortunately I don't hink I can get hold of a lathe to do it.

Do you have any pictures of this valve installed in a WTC?

I've just been taking a look at the Clipppard Site and am trying to understand the technical terms. I could'nt even find info of the dimensions for their mouse designs. Unfortunately a litle out of my price range too.

            regards,

            DAvid H

              I know it seems like

I know it seems like a large investment, but have you considered purchasing a small lathe? The Chinese offerings these days are very affordable, and quite accurate enough for anything a submarine will require.

It will soon pay for itself, as valves of this type tend to attract industrial price tags!

Plus you'll be able to make lot's of other bits for your sub(s) too.
