Workin on the Dumas Akula

So ive been working on my Dumas Akula for a bit now and after I recieved my Scale Ships Akula I was dissapointed in my Dumas boat but, it was kind of a double edge blade. The new boat made me dissapointed in the old but it also provided me with a nice accurate version to assist in improving my Dumas boat. Heres what ive got so far. I still have alot of scribing to do but i need a good template. Please give me comment/suggestions. So far ive had to manufactur everything which ive never attempted except on cars.

Well its not all posted

Well its not all posted yet here aresome of the mre recent photos. I have more but I am currently on vacation and the wife forbid me from taking my laptop.


I have since added torpedo tubes, countermeasure tubes, a number of deck scribings, and some sail detail(like the vents on each side and the door). I have also added basic navigation lights thanx to KevinMc and Wilsonsubs. You can kinda see the lights in this photo.

As for where I got the detail from. I must be a bit honest. I have 2 Akulas. One is my Dumas boat, which is very little Dumas anymore and the other is my extremely accurate scale ships Akula(ask Wayne Frey). Once the other one showed up detailing was a snap. I just went over to one and then scribed the other. Also the other kit came with rub on markings. It also had a bit extra so I used those and a lil white paint and tadahh. Also helpfull was to take the decals and shrink them a bit in the xerox machine. The markings arent scale but, niether is the boat.

By the way Lobo have you seen Crazy Ivans sub or Big Dave's? They look pretty good

How do you do the scribing on the sub? What tools and techniques do you use.

honestly i used a dental

honestly i used a dental scribe and i free handed most of it. I used any shape i had around like markers brass tubes and some tape.

I updated the forward planes



I updated the forward planes to have a more accurate swept back shape. The boat still operates like a champ with the change in shape.
