    Stern Plane Info!

    Morning campers!!
I just wanted to pass on some info I have found out from running my Gato. There was talk a while back about the kit showing the stern planes mounted upside down from the real boat. While this looks like it is true, I can state for a fact that the airfoil shape of the plane does affect the running boat. The faster I go the more it sucks down the rear end. Crazy Ivan has experienced the same effect. I would suggest if you do not want to deal with this problem to either sand them symmetrical or add more material to the other side to accomplish the same result. I plan to try and correct mine, but being on the boat it will not be as easy. For you guys that have to have (dead-nuts) scale please disregard this message and build it what ever way you desire. BD.

    Hi Dave.Hows the snow business

Hi Dave.Hows the snow business in NY.Its great in Ont.
Say can you perform a mixing functtion with your new radio that mixes the throttle position and the dive plan position as you throttle up. I have done this with rc planes in the past.
    Just a thought.. regards Kent.

      Hi Kent,
      Yes I can

      Hi Kent,
Yes I can do that and did, but I still did not like the way it responded. I would like to eliminate the problem at the source. I did not think they would have as much effect as they do. BD.

        Dave,
I havn`t set anything in stone yet.Could I swap sides and install them upside down and get the affect of keeping the stern up and not having the "lowrider look"

I was pretty sure you would have tried that. Hey if you flip them and put enough power to it maybe you can get it to fly. hahaha.

            I don't see why not

I don't see why not TD.
Give it a try and let us know. I was told the bow design of this type of sub has a tendency to lift as it cuts through the water. Maybe this was to compensate for the lift.
Hey Kent!! I already have a Hydrofoil. Ha!! BD

              With my setup they can

With my setup they can go either way,but I can`t say when it will be ready for the first seatrials But the water is way to hard now to drive it anywhere.
