    Type VIIC U-Boat

Ok I have looked all over the web and have found tons of sites about the VIIC but where can I buy an R/C model of one. I have seen the Robbe U47 but I hate the conning tower. I would like a kit that I don't need a trailer to move. Around 4 feet is good maybe 5 feet.

    Can anyone help? Thanks

In the size you are looking for, a used DK Models Type VII is about all that's available. Notice I said "used"; there was some talk of Dan Kachur spinning up production on more 1/48 Type VIIs, but I don't know if this ever happened or not.

In a smaller scale, you could always buy the 1/72 scale Amati Models Type VIIB and cast a glass hull from the one provided in the kit...lots of scratchbuilding needed for this project. There's also promise of the plastic model from Revell later this year....

You have far more to pcik from when you move up to 1/32, but that's beyond the size you are looking at.

There are some plans on http://www.9teuflottille.de. The V11C plans are a bit fuzzy but I found the VIID plan to be of good quality. I am part way through scratch building a VIID from these plans.

If you feel that the robbe Type VII is the right size of boat for you....and you're not exactly looking forward to scratchbuilding one, then I would suggest getting the robbe kit and spending the time adding enough of the details to satisfy.

p.s. Dan Kachur is willing to make more of his 1/48th scale Type VIIs....

              Well I could scratchbuild one.

Well I could scratchbuild one. I am handy with tools and have worked with fiberglass. The only thing is I don't really know is how about to go at it. I would think I would need to make a plug so that I could make a mold to make the hull. What would I use to make the plug and mold. Also what would I use to make the hull.

All the details would seem to be the hard part.
