    Leveller sensors

One for the more experimnetally minded

Some levellers on the market now use sensors with a small bubble of hot air instead of a micro machined beam (i.e. ADXL202).

I've discovered that these sensors are available from a company called MEMSIC.

The advantage of these sensors is increased reliability(more rugged, less sensitive to contamination) and price- about half that of the beam-based equivalents.

    More here-

    Hi Andy,

    Thanks for posting that!

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for posting that! I've been playing around with an ADXL sensor, I may have to pick one of these guys up just to give it a try...

      No problem.

The rest of the site is very interestign too, and they do a sensor with a PWM output ideal for interfacing with a microcontroller.

        Thanks Andy,

        That looks very interesting

        Thanks Andy,

That looks very interesting and it's cheap too!

Analog outputs are quite good in fact, because even tiny PICs have analog to digital convertors (ADCs) now.

          seems like you guys know

seems like you guys know about electronics.. what about a main board of the sorts that one could plug all the electronics into ADC sub safe ect? instead of the bundle of wires that you have to find room for.. is it worth ior will it work?

It's possible Tommy, but would it be marketable?

Most modellers seem to like the modular approach.

There are boards available that combine depth contol and pitch control, these are available from Germany and tend to be called lage und tiefen regler.

Markus Rieger makes a purely analog device of this nature, and Norbert Bruggen produces a board with a microprocessor. Neither units are cheap, but they are both very compact .

Ahhh... you said the key word.. compact! that is a neat unit!
