    Success! Drive Train Tested!

"For duty and humanity" Has the stooges once said!
Well! It's in there The largest hurtle has been jumped. The prototype has been bench tested and installed in the hull. Still lots of work to do, but it is the easy time consuming stuff. Here are two shots of the Gato-R cylinder. BD.

The drive train is in and I tested it under full power in the laundry tub. Lots of power and no problems. BD.

I finished the new battery cylinder. This is my smallest yet at 5/8". This will hold the batteries for the Gato. BD.

                Here are the opened up

Here are the opened up hull and the cylinder. As you can see a good portion of upper the hull has been removed. This in no way effects the strength of this hull. She is solid The deck covers all the openings. Kind of like Revell designed it that way. BD.

I really like the way that everything looks so far, where does the battery wtc fit in relationship to the main wtc, also will there be room for that on/off switch wtc that you did so well on a few months back.

                    Hi TD,
The battery cylinder gets mounted in the rear behind the main cylinder and between the prop shafts. Despite being a good size model there is never enough room and you have to fight for every square inch.

Especially when using the R ballast system. The pressure chamber takes up a lot of room. This cylinder has the largest chamber I can fit in the sub and I am hoping I can get close to waterline with the ballasting.

The problem with a fleet boat is there is a lot of sub that has to be lifted out of the water. It is not like a modern nuke that can take a small ballast tank. It is worse on this boat as the plastic is very thick, which is good for structural rigidity but bad for surface trim weight. So basically what I get is what I get, no more room. Looks like I will be close. We will see Sunday when she hits the water. Here are two photos of the (Bluegill) ready for final ballasting. BD.
