    Appendage Linkages

    Hello again everyone.. I am also finding that I don't have the proper linkage set up for this Thor Alfa. Or at least the one that is in the diagram. I don't have the 2 wheel collars with the added piece of flat metal to attach the clevis. Also I dont have the 2 wheel collars attached by the rod for the rudders, with the bottom collar with the added metal to add the clevis. I contacted Erv at Atomic Subs where I bought my kit and he directed me to Merriman. I have left a message with his machine but still no response. I don't belive I have the tools to make such links. Anyone out there have any ideas...

      If you have some 1/8"

      If you have some 1/8" wheel collars, some brass or steel strips, and a soldering iron, these are easy to make.
      I prefer to use Dubro steel landing gear straps, but that is just me. The rudder linkage is the only one that may require a cross bar to inter-connect.
      If you want, email me and I will send some photos of how I make mine. David is always busy and usually cannot respond immediately, but if you are patient, he probably will.
      There were also changes/improvements and the instructions may not reflect this, however, you may have the needed parts. Post some pictures, or email pictures of the parts you have, and we will get this boat running.

          Mike I would love to see how you do yours. I belive I have all the tools you listed, just not very good with a sodering iron. I did speak to Elie Dave's wife tonight and think that Dave will send me the adapters, but I would still like to see how to make them for future refrence. If you go to the photos section on the home page and click models and then select the Thor Alfa that is there. Pick the second picture and the linkages that are #28 are what I recieved. I have what I belive is Smalley's diagram with the collar set up, and it seems to be used in all most all the Thor designs. So I will put up some pics a soon as I can. Thanks for all the help and yes the bearings are still killing me, but I will put them in..
