    Fitting inside modules - Easy, and good fix?

    Hi, fellow subbers.

    I'm at the point where I'm going to fit the round modules in the bulkheads. The bulkheads are 10mm hard plastic "slices", that I can bolt down into from above, making a bracket to go over the round modules (WTC & MBT) However;
    How do you guys fix your inside modules? Is a strong rubber band enough, or do you too fix it with some brackets bolted into the bulkheads?

      I prefer to make sure

      I prefer to make sure that my dive modules will not go anywhere....and rubber bands won't cut it for me.

      So I build brass hold-down straps with some form of quick disconnect so that the dive module can be easily removed for maintenance. Each end of the brass strap is anchored in the side of the hull with a removeable pin. The photo below shows one of the straps that I built for my OTW Type VIIC.

              Another more straightforward solution is to use a zip tie.

              Doesn't look as swich, but works well.

                  I use a couple of

                  I use a couple of pieces of narrow, non-sticky back velcro. I set it into a small square of Apoxie FixIt in the bottom of the hull. When that stuff cures, you would break the hull before the velcro would come out.

                  Apoxie FixIt is similar to JB weld, but IMHO, TONS better. If you stick it on a glass bottle - after 24 hours, you can't break it off with a pliers.

                  Low-tech, but it works for my purposes

                          Yes, I've used that too.

                          Yes, I've used that too. The advantage of the Apoxie stuff is that it is "stiff" enough so it doesn't run off the strips before it is fully cured.
