Pink Submarine in Australia - USS Sea Tiger

    Hello to everyone,
Please visit the Deep Down website via the link below and enjoy the pics taken x3 of a converted USS Darter (Ex-Engel Kit). The pics show the 'Operation Petticoat' R/C pink submarine USS Sea Tiger. Also, note that the conning tower is a complete scratchbuild to match the USS Balao submarine configuration filmed in 1959 with Cary Grant and Tony Curtis.

    All the best from Australia

      Thanks Brian,

      You will not

      Thanks Brian,

You will not believe it but the pink submarine is my wife Robyns' submarine. My job was to merely convert and paint the submarine to resemble a replica of the USS Sea Tiger. My wife chose the pink submarine as every one else on the lake has no excuse to keep out of her way given the striking pink colour.
As you may be aware some ladies (My wife in particular) has difficulty with right and left or port and starboard directions. The pink submarine gets a laugh and it is always a hit on sail days. I have only seen pictures of Gene's 1/32 boat that you mentioned and it looks terrific. It actually inspired me to do one of my own for my wife. I would like to send you some pictures however because of file size you will need to provide an email address for the sending of close-up Jpegs.

Regards Andrew and Robyn (In Queensland Australia)

        Ok, send them to me

Ok, send them to me and I will place them up here for you!

Oh yea Gene's Boat blew me away when I first saw her, then one nice sunny Sunday afternoon, THE PINK SEA TIGER hit the surf, Holy Cow it was ssssweettt, to see her in person, a photo anit' poop!!, This boat was a total scratch build , except for the hull you might think, but took the man some time to correct aswell,

The Glory day's of my introduction to the world of R/C sub's , and to have that boat in my face, was a pure treat!

I helped him carry her every time he needed help and I were around! One heavy Mother too! His MASTER WORK mide you!, Has made me strive to do the best I can when making any replica of a model..

She now sits nestled safely in the rafters of his garage, I would say once a year you see a 32nd Parallel Hull for sale.

        Thanks Brian

              Thanks Brian for posting_looks great.

Yes - I have two operational RC boats. The U571 (Ex-U47 Robbe) and USS Sea Tiger. Future RC boats include the Nautilus 66" (Bob Martin Hull) and Seaview (80" De Boer Hull).

              All the best. Enjoy.

                Andrew and Brian,
                Would you mind

                Andrew and Brian,
Would you mind if I down loaded the Seatiger pictures from Brians home page to my hard drive so I can better see the details for the conning tower? I have been working on a 1/48th scale balao my self and I'm interested in seeing how others show these details.
                Thanks in advance.
                Don

                  Go ahead Don and download

Go ahead Don and download pics. It is a pleasure to help others and enjoy the hobby. Brian did a good job in posting (thanks again for assist) a selection of pics showing the basic conversion to the Balao tower. Good luck with your own 1/48 scale project.
