    maybe you should explain what

maybe you should explain what you mean with "servo diving cell"
but this is what I did.
the pot meter was later fixed in neutral position, and limit
    switches were added.
might be handy as a trim tank in larger subs, since it only
contains about 24 ml = 24 grammes of water max.
so, used as a main ballast tank, it can push a whole 24
grammes of superstructure out of the water. not much....

      24 cc of superstructure out

24 cc of superstructure out of the water- most plastics are more dense than water.

Hi raalst, sorry but your link shows clearly the meaning of a servo diving cell- using a servo to move a small piston tank. Have you tried using a rack and pinion set-up instead of the servo arm? With this I mean fixing a large gear on the servo post and using to it move the rack on the plunger to and fro.

          nope.

seemed too weak, as my plunger did not move easily.
but in hindsight, it just might have been strong enough.

you could check for lego or other construction type toys
          to obtain a rack/pinion.
or have a second look at an automatic car lock. that contains
          a nice rack/pinion combo too.

try it and add something to our knowledge !

There's a picture of a servo controlled tank using a rack and pinion in the book 'Model Submarine technology'.

You can purchase this book from Traplet, and it's essential reading for any sub builder.
