Who is this man? - Need email address for building U-47

Hi to all,

two days ago, after harch deliberation I ordered the Robbe U-47 kit. Already decided to change the kit to U-96 config and make it a hybrid diver.
Looking for leads to R/C submarine on the net I found this is a pretty well populated community. Since I'm pretty much 'alone in the desert' here on the globe (Netherlands or Holland) did need the www for info on the u47. Luckily i found http://www.wingsontheweb.com/u47/u47.html
and I was triggered by the author's idea's.
Would like to ask this guru some questions before building my version of the kit.
Anybody knows this man?

Thanks people.

Jos.

Good thought Ronald. I do have to admit I found some info on Dutchies (Cloggies?) doing things with subs, but I can't say this community is very www-represented. Besides this, eventhough my region in Holland is pretty wet (lakes & stuff) there ain't much RC clubs specialized in boating. Secondly all dealers in my area (Friesland - Leeuwarden) are all 'greenies' when it comes to static diving subs.
So far my conclusion is that I have to do a lot of experimenting without the experiences or advise of local guru's.

hi there,

I just checked in

hi there,

I just checked in as a member. Also dutch, normally just lurking around for info. I live in the vicinity of Rotterdam. I wonder how many other DutchDiver there are in this group. Perhaps we can even meet someday.

I'm also building the Robbe U47. Converting it to the 995 with a D-type tower, and several other detail changes. Mine's going to be build as a static diver. I found a website how to do it on]http://www.schiffsmodelle-bs.de/

This person build the U47 as a half-dynamic diver and modified it later as a static diver with a reliable Engel Tank system. This is quit easy to obtain here in europe. Another (cheaper) option is a halfdynamic version found on]www.unterseebootmodellbau.de/

Perhaps you can use the info, perhaps not. But it's nice to know that there are more dutchies on this board.

Hi,

just got an email from the builder/editor of the article mentioned in my first post...great support! Question answered for this matter.

As for the 'United Dutch Submariners' maybe it's time to get somewhat together. There are some (a lot) of model-clubs in Holland, but I didn't really find one specialized in subs (besides maybe the HMBC ( http://www.hmbc.nl ) but I could me wrong. Anyone?

Jos.

Well, I live near the hague, have been in contact with
the HMBC (and VMV Kompas). Both have (had) subbers
in their ranks, but only a few. Nice people anyway.

If you e-mail me, let's have a get-together !

I have a Skipjack from Norbert B. and I am now trying to
create a WTC for a plastic Kilo kit with the aid of
my new lathe (draaibank).

My dad lives in Leeuwarden, so Jos, I could "even" meet
you.
(for our american friends, we dutch decided long ago that
200 miles is "far away". It is actually the length of
our country. Don't laugh..)

Ps. Clogs are woodenshoes, as far as I am told. They called
me that when I worked at General Electric. I liked the
word.

PPss. I have found several *very* useful adresses when
it comes to collecting the stuff we need, like o-rings etc.

Hi there fellow Dutchies,

There are still no specialized clubs for subs. I know that in Goes (for none dutch viewers, a very small spot on the globe, which is actually a town) there was a rumour that a store was going to plan a sub meeting. No news yet. I have to wait anyway to go to a dutch regatta, since my last sub drowned due to only a small amount of buoyancy and a small leak. Thank god it wasn't a very beautifull or expensive sub. I don't want to lose my new one. Thats why it is going to have a lot of sensors and stuff to warn me and to raise the sub automatically in case of emergency.

Dear "Lui",

I've red your postings

Dear "Lui",

I've red your postings today 20 may 2003. I think it could be very yusefull to create a "Dutch" SubRon. I've been busy on the U-boatnet for quiet some time and have seen the postings of Ronald on a number of occasions. I think it would be very profitable for all of us "Dutchies"to join forces. After all we were the inventors of the "Schnorchel" so perheaps we could invent some more. Let me hear if there is a genuine interest so we can plan a meeting somewhere in Holland.

Dutch subcom? Could be nice.

Dutch subcom? Could be nice. I have had some contact with Toneburst about this.

I can't put my sub in the water at the moment due to an extensive rebuild/adaption. This rebuild doesn't go as fast as I would like, due to the fact that my wife is in her last weeks of her pregnancy and a lot of time went in preparing the house. I'm about to become a father somewhere in the next few weeks. but after a few months, who knows if I have more time.

I have also put a message on another forum (modelbouwforum.nl). But only a few guys gave a reaction.

I have asked for subcom

I have asked for subcom NL, just for local dutch news
like some mentioning of a gathering in Appingedam
in june. might involve submarines.

I'll keep you posted.

btw, have a look at my Kilo conversion it is a large picture, so be patient.
