Which VIIc Revell Kit? - There are two different 1/72 VIIc kits

I've got a Revell VIIc WTC on order from Dave...

Does anyone know if it makes a difference which VIIc Revell kit I get? There appears to be two different 1/72 kits available.

I know this one will work]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXECT7&P=ML

But I also see this one]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLUW4&P=ML

...and for some reason the Atlantic version VIIc/41 is considerably cheaper (or maybe for good reason) and has more parts. (its $48.99 vs. $60.99).

Anyone know why the price difference and/or why I couldn't (or shouldn't) use the VIIc/41 model? I notice it has a snorkel (cool), is there an indentation in the hull that would prohibit the WTC installation?

perhaps the VIIc-41 hull has

perhaps the VIIc-41 hull has less detail. i know the VIIc has all of the correct rivits, weld lines, and free flood holes. i guess youd have to go to a hobby shop and see the hull to see the differance?

Folks who have seen the

Folks who have seen the newest kit (the Atlantic version) have noted that this appears to be based on the earlier kit in that a number of parts appear to be the same. Certainly the photos that have been posted show that the level of detail looks to be the same as the first kit.

As for the principle differences, that would be that the "Atlantic version" represents a mid- to late-war Type VIIC with the schnorkel and the Atlantik bow. There are also some conning tower differences as well.

Either kit will work with Dave's WTC kit.

Do you have a preference for which variant of the Type VIIC to build? If so, go with it.

I have the VIIC and

I have the VIIC and have seen photo reviews of the VIIC/41. The VIIC/41 model is based upon the VIIC, although they even modified the hull - respect for that.
The VIIC/41 has the larger conning tower with two 2x2cm and 1x3.7cm flak. I am not an R/C modeler, but it seems to me as if all that fine stuff on the tower might easily fall off if driven under water... also, the early model sports a net saw on the bow, which might help with collisions under water.
Just thoughts of an R/C not-even-noob.

I have both. Built the early VIIC, and the VIIC/41 is still in the box.
Here's the big difference, right now. There's no aftermarket deck for the VIIC/41 yet. There's some stuff aftermarket that will work for both (Scopes, some photoetch...)
LIke others have stated- which do you like more? VIIC/41 has more goodies, but early has more aftermarket for superdetailing. choose your poison. either one will make you happy you bought one.

Nautilus Models have two different wooden decks available now for the VIIC/41. One with the late war parallel wood planks with the schnorkel cut-out and another that is more like the VIIC deck with a cut-out for the life raft cannisters but NO schnorkel.

thanks Steve- I never heard a word about this one.
I'm going to have to get that deck, and now an early VIIC and a VIIC/41 comes down to]http://www.subcommittee.com/forum/icon_smile.gif[/img]

Just noticed- that doesn't include the CT deck???

Am just starting on the Type VIIc Atlantic kit RC conversion & I've got questions since I'm a newbie with little access to local hobby stores since I live in China. I was lucky enough to purchase the Revel kit a my local shop, but everything else will have to be sent across the pond.

Can anyone share their experiences in what is the best method to attach the deck while keeping this accessible to maintain the WTC & other components in the hull? Also what advantage, if any, is there over using the Nautilus wood deck compared to Modelbrass etched decks.

Also I have to ask the question that comes from the anal side of my brain... has anyone tried (successfully) to use Yankee ModelWork's resin pressure hull kit with this kit, or is this best left for a static or surface running model only?

Thanks.
